Three-Wheel Baseball Pitching Machine
The Hack Attack grips a baseball in three locations and drives it with three concave 14 in throwing wheels. Sports Attack rates the machine at 100+ MPH from 60 ft. The hitter watches the ball through the feeding motion, acceleration and release, the way he would watch a live pitcher, so he can read when to stride and what angle the ball is leaving on.
Every pitch change on the Hack Attack is a dial change. Turning the wheel speed dials moves the breaking plane, which covers major league fastballs and right- and left-handed breaking pitches including curveballs, sliders and split fingers. The elevation adjustment handle raises or lowers the pitch, and the inside/outside adjustment moves ball location at the plate. Both work between pitches.
How It Is Built
Four parts of the Hack Attack decide what a coach can do with it: the wheels that grip the ball, the two handles that place it, the head that pivots for fielding work, and the frame that holds the whole thing still.
At Practice
The spec sheet lists dial-in pitch selection and a 5 second recovery time. Everything below comes from the same published sheet.
A Closer Look
The three wheels sit apart from one another, and the ball travels between them in open view. The hitter tracks it through the feeding motion, through acceleration and out of the release, which is where the timing read comes from. Sports Attack lists complete ball vision as a spec on this machine for that reason.
At 205 lbs the Hack Attack holds its position through a long round of batting practice, and Sports Attack builds it so one person can still move it. Tilt the machine, un-socket the legs and roll it on the two heavy-duty transporting wheels. Those are separate from the throwing wheels, and the front wheel guards keep the throwing wheels off the ground.
The Range
Six baseball machines share the Attack line. Compare the control method, the leg set and the size of the chassis before you commit a program budget.
