Aletha | The Band
Aletha The Band is a hip resistance band, a single closed loop that goes around your legs and supplies 30 to 50 lb of resistance depending on how far it is stretched. There is no buckle, no clip and no level to select, so the stretch is the only thing that moves the figure inside that span. Woven rubber with a non-slip grip holds the loop in place while you work through a set. Release work only holds when the muscles around it are strong enough to maintain it. The Band is the strengthening step that follows, for the hips, the glutes and the core.
Every exercise in the printed guide is part of a PT-approved sequence. Try each movement without the loop first to get comfortable with the motion, then add the Band for more resistance. Stop if an exercise causes or increases pain.
The loop
The loop itself is the only moving part. Taking it further from its resting length raises the resistance, and the exercise you choose decides how far it goes.
Using the Band
You put the Band on by stepping into it or drawing it up over both feet, and it stays a closed ring around your legs for the whole set. The non-slip face holds it where you put it while the legs are moving underneath. Different exercises want the loop in different places along the leg, and moving it means sliding the ring, since there is nothing to unfasten and nothing to re-thread. The Band comes off between exercises only when the next one calls for a different placement.
The exercise set runs across three body positions and one placement. Side lying gives you clam shells and hip pulses, where the top knee opens against the loop while the feet stay together. Hands and knees gives you fire hydrants and glute kickbacks, one leg at a time, with the loop around both legs. On your back, glute bridges and hamstring bridges drive the hips up with the knees pressing out. Standing and on your hands, squats, planks and band walks keep both feet pushing outward so the loop never goes slack.
For a clam shell, bend the knees to about 90 degrees and lift the top knee; the legs should not open wider than the length of your hand. Squats start with the heels about shoulder-width apart and the knees behind the toes, and a goblet dumbbell or kettlebell takes them further. Hamstring bridges start with the legs nearly straight and the heels on the ground, pressing through the heels, and feet on a bench makes them harder. Glute kickbacks keep the body still while only the leg moves, and a plank holds the core up without letting it drop toward the floor.

Aletha Tools
Where the other Aletha tools are held still under pressure, the Band works over repetitions while your legs travel.
